...this Chubb Rock song came out:
The year was 1990, I was 12, in the 7th grade at Fallstaff Middle School and I lived and breathed to watch what was called The Jukebox Network where you could order videos to play for around 99 cents.
I knew pretty much every video in rotation and for most, the dance they did in it. I was just beginning to like boys (amongst other things), desperately wanted a pair of Major Damage or Used jeans and would beg my older sister to buy me a new pair of high-top Reeboks every holiday so I could appear to have several pairs (didn't always work).
In big glassses, side ponytails, and 2 extra thick pairs of slouch socks, I wasn't popular, but cool among the cooler kids and never shy to jump on the dance floor to show what moves I'd learned at the school's socials.
I played flute in the school band, subscribed to Teen magazine and couldn't wait to be a teenager and begin going on dates just like in the magazine.
Where were you?

Lets see I was 16, in military school when one of my homeboys had the video on tape from the video music box. That was the joint.

anywho have a great weekend
blame marcus for my drive by hope u dont mind folk
I was 10 or 11 in 5th or 6th grade depending on the month. My style was wiggity wiggity whack b/c my dad was still buying my clothes. I sported a pony tail with a big ass bang. I was in chorus and Gifted and Talented in school- I was a geek. I had a crush on a guy who sported a rattail and a fade. Those were hard times! hehe
Cat, I would love to call myself a geek but my grades did not reflect that. Nevertheless, my mom still dressed me in Cosby-like clothes and I also had a crush on a kid with a high high-top fade.
I think he also had a pair of Hammer pants!
I was a senior in high school.
Graduated in June 1990.
Prom in May.
Senior events and activities taken place.
I was not a popular girl at all.
I was SURE it was gonna Chubb Rock --Treat em Right. That used to be my JAM!
hmmm...let me see. in 1990, i was about 11-years old and in the sixth grade, attending thomas jefferson elementary in louisa, virginia.
i don't know about this chubb rock song though. i remember his never-to-be-forgotten classic 'treat 'em right'.
Yeah, I remember that joint with one of the most overused drum samples in hip hop history and I think a sample from LL Cool J's "I'm Bad".
I didn't really care for Chubb Rock on the party cuts. The music was tight, but his delivery lacked a certain favor for me. But his collab with Jeru Damaja in '95 was tight.
YAY! I love the wayback
Side ponytails were the hotness on women!
You're the truth!
Come hang in Virginia :)
